Based on the article you read yesterday and your conversations with Mr. Alvarado, answer the following prompt:
Some educators feel having an animal around that will give students unconditional love is a good. Other educators feel there is too much liability in having the dog in the school. In your opinion, how do you feel about having therapy dogs available to students in our school? Clarify your opinions.

In my opinion I do believe that Mr. Alvarado would let a dog into the building only if someone controlled it or watched the dog at all times. Also I think he would like it with the kids that need more help then others and help kids calm down when they are obnoxious. I think he wouldn,t mind as along as the dog didn't create a mess or cause commotion.
I really do not think that having a therapy dog in our school would be a very good idea. With the students here, it wouldnt be anything but a distraction. Not only that but I really do not feel that some of the students here can handle such a program. They will play around and, hopefully not, possible injure the dog, not using the dog for its intended purposes.
In my opinion, I feel having a dog in the school is definitely unsanitary. I personally do not like dogs. I think that they are too much of a responsibility and they have the tendency to turn on you. Having a dog in the school will not be beneficial to the learn process, I feel it will make it confusing because we acturally be thinking that the dog is helping teach student certain concepts.
I believe a dog should be let into the school. There are kids that have special needs and they need to be attended to. If the only way a kid will improve in school is by bringing in a dog then why not. Im sure it will pay off in the long run and you will feel great about it.
I think Mr.Alvarado would accept a therapy dog coming to assist the students that need help with their work in our school. In my opinion I think it's a good idea to let a therapy dog come assist some students that feel they don't have enough help and feel that they may need more than just a teacher to motivate them.
In my opinion i think that having a therapy dog in our school will not be a good decsion. i think the students in our school are to big and probably act childish if the dog was in our school.I always think that the dog would be a BIG distraction to the students. The therapy dog would probably be best best for younger kids.
I agree that having a dog around will help students become more comfortable in school. Dogs are so loving and they are easy to get along with. I have a dog myself, and I can honestly say that it has made my life much more happier. Though having it in your school is a risk, it just depends on what kind of dog it is and how well it's trained.
I strongly disagree with a dog running around the school because our school is too small and the dog might attack people or some people could be allergic to dogs and the dog could run off campus but either way I believe having a dog in our school would be a huge liability, and I'd probably feed him some chocolate.
In my opinion I think the dog is still a good idea to have in the school. Althought the dog may be a ditraction to some kids, it may help other kids with social disorders and help them learn to interact with people more
All students,
Therapy dogs are specially trained. The have passed two tests that prove that they are gentle and have good doggie manners. Also, there is a grooming code. All therapy dogs must be clean and have no "doggie" odor. The handlers must clean the doges paws, toenails, ears, and brush the dog's teeth before a visit. The dog must also be no more than 6 feet from the handler at any given time. The dog also must be on a six foot leash. The dog could not run away and is highly unlikely to turn on students or the handler. The handler also carries liability insurance in case of an incident.
I feel therapy dogs should not be in schools. Having a dog in school would be too much of a hassle. Someone has to be responsible for feeding, cleaning, and personal care for the dog.The dog may provide unconditional love however it may not always be so friendly. For example, a student antagonizes the dog unitl the point it attacks. The school would then be responsible for this incident. It would be best to leave dogs out of schools.
