What is the Cause?

On Friday, there was a big brew-ha-ha at my daughter's school. There have been several incidences at my daughter's school involving gang violence. These are not the syndicated gangs you see in Detroit neighborhoods, but gangs that the students are forming themselves. Most of these gangs involve drug trafficking, but all of them have brought violence to the school. On Friday, there was a gang fight in an inner hallway that involved 21 students and some rumored weapons. My daughter has told me that the gangs have fought in stairwells and choose to do violence during busy class changing. My daughter is a member of the school news team and has created several public service announcements to try to curb violence in the school. This fight caused a three hour lock down, brought in three police agencies, and an innocent student was injured. Last night, a mass text message was passed around stating that a student was going to bring a gun to school. A parent called the police and the principal at his home. The principal made a mass call to parents last night stating that the police will be present in the building today and the text messages were just rumors. On top of everything, the incidents at the school made the morning news and I received phone calls from many of her friend's parents asking me if I was sending Kim to school. These events upset my daughter very much. My daughter blames the violence on the addition of 9th grade students to her school. She says this type of violence just did not happen before the 9th grade was moved to the high school. I blame the economy (no jobs for youth and no money to participate in activities) and a lack of home training for the rapid decline in student behavior at her school. What do you feel is the cause of the increase in violent behavior in schools? You may use your own experiences to develop a statement on this topic that is one paragraph long.

In schools many children try to fit in a little to much. In my opinion many gang violence at school happens when too many kids get together and make disturbances or just don't like each other. It's not because of one particular grade because no matter where you go freshmans will still act like middle school students. Every school has certain problems, for example the parents may not be around as often and they ,may be acting out to get attention. Forming these little gangs and creating riots may be their way to get the parents.

I think the increase of violence in school is caused by children that have problems at home or are just tryin to fit in. Sometimes in school a child feels that gangs are cool because when you are in a gang you get respect. Or children who are getting abused by parents and tend to take there anger out on people at school. Plus alot of children do not have extra curricular activities so they end up finding other ways to entertain themselves.

I feel the cause of this is peer pressure. I believe that majority of gang violence in school happens when hatred towards other students is present and students form a "clique" and make disturbances within the school. I do not believe that the main problem is the freshman because all freshman, for the most part are immature. There is some room to say that these students are acting because they are being neglected at home. The is a meer cry for attention. Forming and being about gangs and igniting senseless riots in the school is their cry out to their parents demanding more attention.

There has been a wide spread of violence all across the nation. I believe this sudden increase in violence in schools is due to random boredness. When students don't have anything to occupy their mind, they tend to get into trouble. Due to the economic situation, many parents may not have extra money for extracirricular activities.Since students don't have money for activities such as basketball, soccer, and cheerleading, students have way more free time. The employment rate for teens is also another factor. There aren't many ways for students to make money which is why they get involved in illegal activities like selling drugs. Activities like this is what causes problems in schools. It's a chain reaction. No money plus no extracirricular activities equals trouble for students.

The increase in violence could come from a number of things. I truly don't know what the cause could be. Answering this question comes down to background checks of the students. It could come from lack of home training or from peer pressure. Some use violence as release of their own emotional problems. It helps them to calm their nerves. Others maybe easily tempered and don't know any other way to calm themselves down, but through violence.

i think the most causes of violence starts when teens get to high school and they think are cool. when they get to high school kids are there to motivate them to do bad things and peer pressure they feel that they should do it because someone else is doing it and they feel that if they dont do it they will not have any friends. i fel that another cause is face book alot of dram starts on facebook. i think they should stop violence and turn any weapons and everyone should be friends

I feel that the reason of all the violence is because of peer pressure. Most kids see other kids doing something and they feel like they have to fit in or they will get pick on. Also the cause of violence can deal with stuff thats happening at home. Alot of teens go through stuff at home and bring their anger to school and take it out on the students. A good way they can stop this violence is if they make the students go to conclusion. This will then aloow the students to talk bout what there going through and let there anger out. What ever the school do they need to hurry up before the violences gets worse then wat it is.

I feel that there are many reasons as to why this violence is occuring. Violence and disturbinces like these are starting to happen at the Academy of Inkster also. Alot of incidents that have occured this year has not happened last year or the year before that. For example, the violence and fights that have already happened have out numbered all of the violent acts in the last two years. I feel that the reason for this is societies view on acepptance. New freshman are just now coming in to high school and all they want to do is to fit in. They will do anything to make themselves stand out among the other newcomers so that the older students will befriend them. Society makes it seem like if you do not fit in with a certain type of group then you are a nobody. Noone wants to feel like that. I believe that is what is causing all of the violence.
