Senior Reading Assignment

Here is your reading assignment for 2/13/2009:

Use the links on Blogger to access the following electronic texts:

1. Read Biography of Spenser
2. Go to online texts on biography page and choose Commendatory Poems and Dedictory Sonnets.
3. Read: A vision upon the concept of the Faery Queene, To the Learned Shepard, and 10 of the sonnets that follow.

4. Go to Metaphysical poet imformations and read about metaphysical poets, them Read the biographical information about John Donne.

5. Read the following 7 poems by Donne:

1. The Flea
2. The Good-Morrow
3. Song (Go and catch a falling star)
4. Woman's Consistency
5. The Sun Rising
6. The Canonization
7. Farewell to Love

I will discuss the poems and you will have a response over these poems after break. I have seen these specific poems or portions of these poems on released AP test questions.

Don't forget that you need to independently read 1984 and be prepared to discuss the novel on March 9Th. Please remember, AP is about having a college experience during high school. If I give you any less to do, it is not AP English.
