Requirements:
Paper (100 points)
1. MLA Style
2. 12 point Times Roman font
3. Topic: You must discuss a historical topic or perspective related to Macbeth. You may choose from:
a. Discuss the Gun Powder Treason Plot in relationship the play “Macbeth”
b. Discuss the historical Macbeth in relationship to Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
c. Compare Macbeth and Lady Macbeth to any political couple in history (example: Bill and Hillary Clinton).
d. Discuss the events in Macbeth in relationship to any historical event (example: Watergate or the Iran-Contra Affair).
5. Papers must be no less than 5 and no more than 8 pages of text. Papers less than five pages will receive a zero. I will stop reading papers at 8 pages and papers longer than 8 pages of text will receive a five point deduction per page. Title pages and works cited pages are not text.
6. You must use an MLA cover page due to length of paper.
7. You must use at least one credible critical article and your text as sources. Book notes and sites such as 123 Help Me are not credible. You should get these from Google Scholar. You will need them to write this paper.
8. You must properly cite your articles and text in the body of your paper.
9. You must include an MLA works cited page with your critical article and your text.
10. Grading:
25 points essay conventions (thesis, topic sentences, paragraphing, conclusion)
25 points MLA usage (Cover sheet, parenthetical citations, works cited page)
25 points content: (Content, clarity, staying on topic)
25 points grammar and mechanics: (formal language use, sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, and spelling)

2. Historical Perspective paper
This is due January 14, 2009 with the paper
The Portfolio is worth 100 points:
25 points: Organization
50 points:Presentation and appearance
25 points: Content
Plagiarism, the representation of someone else's words and ideas without documentation or the outright presentation of another person's work as your own is unacceptable. Plagiarized papers will receive a failing grade. Use of unacceptable sources will lower paper grade by 25 points for each unacceptable source used.
The January 14 due date is firm. Late assignments will be penalized 20 points for each day late. After January 17, no more assignments will be accepted and students will receive a zero and fail the class for the term.
