Do a google search on AIDS in Africa and answer the following question:
Doctors and AIDS researchers in Africa have found that the body's chemistry is similar with starvation and the AIDS virus. Many children who were though to have AIDS got better (that means their blood work proved that they no longer had traces of the virus) when they were fed properly. Is there really an aids epidemic in Africa or are many children dying of malnutrition? Support your answer with facts from a website.

I would believe that AIDs and starvation could be similar in some ways. Only because with AIDs the immune system is weak and it is easy to get very sick so they may look very sickly with the AIDs virus. In my opinion AIDs is always a bad thing to have and even if they are mistaken in Africa, thats beside the point. People in Africa needs to be taken care of if they have the virus or not, they are always dying and suffering trying to live their lives. People from Africa suffer from so much but it seems like no one hardly helps them there; besides a few foundations. AIDs is a very deadly disease which forms from HIV which is the beginning of AIDs; you are considered to have AIDs after your T Cell count is under 200, and you're more open to be sick because of the immune is weakened. In all, people in Africa shouldn't suffer from AIDs or starvation.
The AIDS epidemic in Africa is running rapid in the Sub-Saharan Africa culture. They don't have proper health conditions in Africa. The reason for the slow health care is because of low money to fund the necessary medicines or treatments. Also the response to the epidemic is also hampered by lack of infracture, corruption within both donor agencies and government agencies, foreign donors not coordinating with local government and misguided resources. Besides the fact that most Africans don't use condoms to protect themselves.
AIDS slowly but surely destroys the immune system, making it helpless against viruses and yhe comon cold. AIDS has become the number 1 leading cause of death in the United States and is getting worse. Africa is suffering because AIDS originally started from there and has spreaded world-wide... Though many do not believe that you dont die from AIDS, it is a common fact that you cant die from AIDS but you die from the complications of it and HIV and AIDS are in fact not the same because HIV is the first stage of AIDS. Africans suffer because they do not have the proper medical attention needed to keep the disease at bay and to help treat it. It's a shame that the most deadly of diseases are the hardest to treat...
I believe that there really is an AIDS epidemic in Africa and I also, believe that there is also a severe case of malnutrition, as well. Even though they have some sismilarities, they are NOT the same thing. They should have checked and made absolutley sure that the children had AIDS before they started this test. If you fed them and studies showed that the traces were gone, how do you know if there were any traces at all if you weren't sure if they had the virus to begin with?
I wouldn't say that AIDS and starvation are as much alike as they have a few of the same symptoms. AIDS and starvation obviously come from 2 completely different things. Secondly, nit saying it is easy but you can cure starvation easier than you can cure someone with AIDS. Either way it gose your immune system will be weakened but that can come from a number of things, does that mean that you have them to? Exatly my point. They are both extermely dangerous and deadly but they compare by far.
I say that more then likely some AIDS cases in Africa are really the children not being malnutritioned. I believe instead of focusing on AIDS they should try to keep children nutritioned. From what I read about malnutrition is that without it children can't properly focus in classes, they are behind in the average growing process among children. Not being nutritioned can be a life long hardship for someone, because whne they get older they are skinny, and weak. I think malnutrition is almost as bad as AIDS and should be treated as such.
I believe that both illnesses are huge problems in Africa. One because Africa is over populated with third world countries, so therefore they can not afford to give the citizens of there countries proper, and satisfying healthcare, and to feed them well which is a very sad. Also with them not having proper health care some illnesses could be mistaken for others.
I believe that AIDS and starvation are similar in some ways but differents in for example starvation is preventable by eating until you are no longer hunger. AIDS is preventable by having protected sex or not having it at all. I also believe that many of the cases in Africa is malnutrition there is no way that they have tested over 28 million people for AIDS or the HIV virus especially when the continent doesn't have that kind of money.
Destiny,
Make sure your answer is actually a response to the question. Stay on topic.
It seems to me to be an epidemic. In some areas aids is still growing in some areas of Africa. Aids is at its peak since the 1990's. HIV occurs when the rate of new HIV infections is equalled by the AIDS death rate among the infected population.
I think its both. AiDs mess with the immune system and starvation will mess with your nutrients if this is not it i dont know the answer. The question wasnt clear to me.
Aids is very dangerous by itself, mixing it with the immune system makes it way more dangerous. they could be similar in some ways because of the things tht happen while your sick. i would have to agree with what shareka said in her post.
The AIDS in Africa is running rapid in their culture. They do not have proper health conditions in Africa. The reason for the slow health care is because of low money conditions necessary for medicines or treatments and even (sexual)protection. AND not to mention the fact that most Africans don't use condoms to protect themselves
