I would have to say that Beowulf is a complex story. Beowulf seems to represent a warrior with a lot of bravery and no fear of dying until he gets for what he wants. Beowulf to me would be a hero in the story yet then again I wouldn't say a very good hero. Beowulf is more of a hero that associates with a lot of violence and to his own perspective I don't think he claims himself as the hero. Beowulf is only the main character of the story so usually the main characters are the good guys, but not always; there are some bad guys for main characters also. This is what I think about Beowulf. To me Beowulf just represents bravery and honor.
I think that the type of leadership that the character Beowulf is portraying is a very noble leadership. He almost reminds me of the character "the knight" from the story Canterbury Tales. He is very well-known and very respected. He is not boastful. He is a very good leader. He is always ready to defend the people.
I believe that Beowulf shows a warrior type of leadership. He is respected and everyone looks up top him. When something goes wrong he is the first one ready to help. He does not look et himself as a hero, he looks at it as something he is suppose to do, not for recognition but for the feeling of knowing that everyone is safe.
Only speaking for myself, I do not believe that Beowulf is a good leader, a good warrior yes but not a good leader. The reason for my answer is this... he is the type of person who likes to take all the glory and is self-absorbed and does not like to share the spotlight from what I have seen from the movie and read from the text. True, he is a very honorable warrior but a good person he is not. He likes to boast about himself and his accomplishments (If all of them are even true), but does not like anyone to challenge his stories. He seems to be the kind of person to highlight his biggest accomplishments but cast a shadow on his flaws... So no he is not a leader because there is no "I" in team.
I think that Beowulf is a good leader. And shows a lot of leadership skills in the text. Beowulf is mentioned in the text leading his warriors to victory. And he shows a lot of leadership qualities by being honest and noble. S yes I do believe that Beowulf is a good leader and shows good leadership skills and qualities.
I agree with Britnie completely. Beowulf does portray a very noble like skill of leadership. He tells his enemies stories of his past fights so that they may fear him,and he cares so much about his people that he is always on gaurd to defend them.
Beowulf is a great warrior and represents bavery. He seems to strive hard for what he wants. I feel that Beowulf is a big heroic symbol in the story. Beowulf is also a very noble figure of leadership. He stands for something, so he wont fall for anything, and he is always prepared to defend others. He does what he does, in a sence, to be noticed but also because he feels that its his duty to make others feel comfortable and secure. Therefore he is well respected.
But on the other hand Beowulf is not a great leader. He likes to been in the forefronts of everything. He likes to boast and brag on his self. He does not like to be challenged about his stories
I agree with Shareka, Beowulf is a GREAT warrior. He is known to be a hero. He represents much bravery and honor, but he uses violence.
I also agree with Shayne', Beowulf is a freat warrior but not a great leader. He is very much so rapped up in himself. He is boastful and happens to do alot of bragging about all his great accomplishments. I feel thathe will be a much better person if he would just sometimes maybe considering humbling him self.
Hey Students!

I would have to say that Beowulf is unlike any other poem I have ever read. Throughout the poem the character Beowulf is described as a brave, noble, and some what god like warrior, and can sometimes come off as a little boastful. I feel that him being such as good warrior just complements his leadership skills. I say this because in order to be a good leader you can't be scared of anything and you have to have confidence in yourself and Beowulf has this.
On the other hand Beowulf also leads his people threw the role of a king. He adapts to this role very well. I feel as if he were destined to be king. In order to be king and lead his people you must also know how to give the people you are leading hope and that is what he does. He shows them never give up and keep hope alive. So yes I feel that Beowulf is a good leader.
I agree with what Shareka said to an extent. Beowulf does represent a warrior having no fear of dying. But at the same time when she said that she believes he resorts to too much violence that is not true in my opinion. He only resorts to violece when necessary. If someone is destroying your town or something dear to you then you have no choice but to resort to violence.
I have to say that Beowulf has a type of independent leadership. He is the type who can work good alone, but he has the type of drive to be able to leader others properly to get what needs to be done, done. I say that Beowulf is a good leader, but works better alone. If he works alone then he doesn't have to depend on others to do their job, he can just do it himself.
He is a good leader. I say this because he is a good person and wants to defend his people. He will do anything it takes to save his people. He will even sacrafice himself to do it, and that is what makes him a good leader. His good character.
I would have to agree with Britnie's post. Beowulf would be more like The Knight from The Canterbury Tales in a sense. And that he does show great and excellent leadership talents and that he does want to protect and defend people. Beowulf could be many things in many different perspectives if you look at it differently. This is why I would have to agree with Britnie's post about Beowulf. He is a great leader and all her statements backed up her reasons perfectly.
I agree with Britnie because I feel that Beowulf is a very noble leader. He reminds me to of "The Knight" in Canterbury Tales. On the other hand I feel as though Beowulf's bragging is only a form of story telling just as in Canterbury Tales. His use of violence was only used to defend his people.
I see that the story represents bravery and courage. I say this because he doesn't have a fear of dying for what he wants. Heroic in a sense, but at the same time not much a positive influential hero. Although, he basis his victories on violence, that's of course in a sense his victorius change in the heroic sense. His attitude is something like gallantry and nobility. That's my perspective of the role that was portrayed
Beowulf is a story that I would never forget and a story that everyone can learn from. Whenever see Beowulf he had this attitude like I am going to do whatever it takes to suceed. Sometimes in life you have to have that attitude.
I disagree with Britnie because Beowulf is boastful but he has a reason he is basicly letting everyone know that if you mess with me, my family, or my country this is what will happen to you.
yes i feel that beowulf is a leader because he take charge of everything. He make sure that everyone is ok, and he tries his hardest to keep people safe. hes a leader because he travel fron differ places to kill monsters that the local people cant kill or destroy. Hes also very brave and dont seem to be scared of anything .
I agree with Mingus
I would remember this movie because of what he represent. Hes a man of honor.
