This Does Not Make Sense!

I was hoping that the price of gas would be adjusted down by the time I left work yesterday. After all, the hurricane was over and minimal damage was done to oil producing facilities. Also, the price of oil dropped by almost $7.00 a gallon. I was shocked when saw the gas prices. Gas is $4.20 a gallon all around the Detroit area. This does not make sense to me. Based on the decline of oil prices alone, the price of gas should be headed in the other direction. Go to http://www.gasbuddy.com/ and do some research. Find out the cost of gas from one year ago. Then, compare the gas prices in Detroit and two other major cities and answer the following: Using the data provided, does the current surge in gas prices make sense? Use the data from Gas Buddy, current news events, and Mrs. Atkinson's observations to make a well constructed statement with reasons based on fact and speculation.

Well it obviously makes sense to the Government since they're the one demanding more higher prices because they want to be greedy. The government doesn't care how much money we have and our pay in the economy isn't rising with the higher prices. This is something they should fix so we should be able to live a daily life without worrying about money. But, it's like I said the Government doesn't care for that sort of thing so they just want to drain America down to it's last remains.

The gas prices from a year ago was $2.77 a galloon. And this year in Detroit gas prices are $4.16 a gallon. And that really dosen't make any sense, because that is a big waste in money. With the raise in taxes, raising the gas prices are really inrelevant to most Americans.

The price of gas a year ago on average was 2.775. The current surge of gas prices in the United States is outragous. In the Detroit, Mi the most common gas price is about 3.99 a gallon. In Houston, Tx the most common gas price is 3.39. In New Orleans, La the most common gas price is about 3.69. Due to the fact that hurrican Ike has hit. The gas prices are going to go evern higher. Becasue most oil bases in the United States are from the south

It's truly and clearly evident that the government doesn't care. They are constantly raising prices for greed and using the money for situations that are not important. To be honest we are in a recession so this really creates a burden on people's money by having to pay a high price for gas.

Well I say the gasprices make since to the government to cover for the economy. I am not a big person with numbers and grphs but I can tell that the gas prices have doubled in the past year and don't seem to be going down. I feel this is getting ridculus especially since the hurricane is over and there is no need to keep the prices up since the danger is gone.

I strngly and passionately agree with everything Ashley said!!! How is everyone supposd to actually make a living wen the only thing they have money for is bills on top of bills and gas? This situation is in fact ridiculously unfair.

One yera ago on average the price of gas was about 2.77 per gallon. This year the average price of gas in the metro Detroit area
goes for about 3.89 per gallon at the very least and the highest has benn aronud 4.16 a gallon. Now that there is a possibility that oil producing companies and or facilities may be in danger due to hurricane Ike gas is continuing to rise even higher and as they do this state is becoming more and more prone to poverty!!

Last year's gas prces were a lot cheaper than this years gas prices. Last year's gas price were $2.00 a gallon and now they have dramtically increased to $4.00 this year and they are steadily rising. People are having enough trouble paying their home woners bills and now they have to worry about the rollercoaster of gas prices. It's sad!

I agree with Shareka's statement because of course it's very true that the governement is not really concerned about the situations that are transpiring. Her statement clearly elaborates on the circumstances we're facing with shifty gas prices.

The current gas surge does not make any sense. Its almost mind boggling. Last year around this time, gas was only $2.00. Now it is $4.00. When gas first sarted to rise, it was more expensive on the west coast. NOw it is sort of jumping all over the place. In Los Angeles, CA it is at leat $3.77. IN Chicago, IL, they are paying $4.50. It is so uncalled for. It does not make any sense.

The gas prices a year ago was $2.77 a gallon and to bring it up to $4.16 makes no sense. The economy is bad as it is and no one can find a job. It is hard enough to pay bills every month and to raise gas prices by somuch a gallon is wrong.

One year ago the gas was 2.77 and now it is about a dollar more. Its pretty clear that the serge isn't fair but if it was too cheap would the gas stations really be making a profit. I am against raising gas prices but I mean they are just trying to make money its just in a more noticable way.

Gas is currently at $3.53 a gallon From 1 year ago to todays date, gas was at the price of $2.96, that is almost a $1.oo price jump, in a course over a year. This does not make any sense. But in other cities such as Troy, and Novi. Gas prices are as high as $3.15, and $4.30. So in some way we should be lucky.

I wanted to comment on Shareka’s comment. It's not all of the government who are behind high gas prices. Some people in our government, including our own Governor Jennifer Granholm, are cracking down on people who are practicing "price goldging".

A year ago gas costed $2.77 and now it is $4.20. Think the reason why it went sky high in the first place was because Bush decided to go to war with Iraq which we got our oil from. The gas prices dropped for a minute but then went right back up. I think its more then the price of oil. I think they putting extra stuff into it.
