There are many reasons why I think a person that has to be in the public eye(such as the mayor), maintains good behavior all year-round. Firstly, The mayor is an important position, which helps run the city and basically handles the money for things such as construction on roads and trash. Secondly, If someone is voted in by the citizens, I believe its a reason why they chose that particular person and that person should not take their position for granite. From a students perspective, having a mayor is like having a Leader, someone kids should be able to look up to like Mayor Kwami Kilpatrick is a young, black, leader of Detroit. Mayor Kwami Kilpatrick was accused of lying under oath. Due to recent activity I think this was a prime example of why People in the Public eye should maintain a good behavior because everyone makes mistakes and many are forgiven, but in the public eye, making one mistake can haunt you for the rest of your life.
I think that all political presonel should maintain or at least try to maintain a good personal behavior while under the public eye, because everyone is watching you. You may think that you're getting away with a lot, but you're really not. Just like the old saying goes,"What's done in the dark will come to light", is a prime example of what just happened to our beloved Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. What he obviously thought he was just giong to do in the dark sure enough came to light when they aired all of his dirty laundry out on the air and also on the radios. Even though he did wrong he still needs to be forgiven for his wrongs.He's already punishing himself enough so why must the citizens of Detroit do it.
No. I don't believe so, in my eyes I believe people are going see in whatever way they think you should react. But you are going to be yourself are any and everybody no matter what.
The mayor has alot of problems that the public didn't really need to be in. I believe half of the information on the news did not need to be put out for the whole city to see.
No.I say no because that is his business.As long as it doesn't have anything to do with his job being the mayor it should not be an issue.MAyor Kilpatrick has been doing a good job as the mayorr of detroit so this last inciddent should not be based on if he should be mayor or not like ive heard on the radio and on the news.
Yes and NO for me. I believe in yes because Our mayor of Detroit knows that he is constantly being watched and monitored by the media, so he should always be careful with the things he does and says. I believe in no because those accusations happened 4 yrs ago, so why are they still hanging around that story. Can't the media see that he has already payed for it because now that is going to put a dent in the relationship with his wife as well as his children. He should have been more careful.
I think everyone is human, and we all make mistakes, some smaller than others. In my opinion what the Mayor of Detroit did was very tasteless, and embarrassing. By him being a politician, it made it that much worst. Many young black men looked up to Kwame Kilpatrick as a positive role model, so by his actions others are thinking it’s acceptable, and its not. I think he should be removed from office, and never elected again. If you’re a public figure, you have a certain way you should carry yourself, with respect and dignity, and he certainly did not achieve his goals, by his actions.
I believe that the expectations for a personal should be higher while in the public eye. At the same time everyone deserves there personal space. When this subject comes up the first thing that comes to mind is Kwame Kilpatrick. Yes i do understand that he made the dicision to run for mayor,while taking that position you should relize that alot of your private life will not remain secret. It will come out to the public eventually. Therefore if you can not handle all the cons that come with the job then do not do it.
I do think that expectations should be way higher for a person in view of the public eye especially if you hold that kind of position. Because he is the mayor of the city and he did something wrong, not only are they looking at him, they are looking at us as well. We made the news all around the country. You are representing your people and the people in your city and you are making us look very bad. Every year he has been in office, we have made the news all around the country for something he has done. I also think that it goes for other people as well, especially in schools. For instance, all the chaos that has been going on this week makes our whole school look bad. A few students act out of control and they punish everyone. It is so unfair but that's life.
Yes,because when your in the public eye you are always representing someone. For example the mayor and his situation. Everyhing the mayor does and says effects the city of detriot, and when people hear about all the stuff he is doing they say stuff like," Did you hear about the mayor, what kind of person would vote for that." and etc.
Yes, in the public eye expectations should be higher. In my case, I feel that since you have such a higher responsibility that you should know how to conduct yourself in an orderly and proper manner. Not constantly making the same irresponsible mistakes that can get you in a world of trouble because not only does it affect them, but it affects the citizens they are suppose to be protecting and helping them live in a better society.
In the public eye you are expected to be a good role model . You are expected to have high expectations. As the mayor your personal life should stay personal. He should set a good exampleas the mayor to thre public. There are does and don't that stops in the public eye.
Yes the expectations should be higher for personal behavior for individuals n the public eye. I say this because there are too many children that look up to there favorite character or actor/actress. If a young child sees a certain type of behavior all the time they begin to act the same way so its in everyones best interest that individuals in the public eye act in a more behaved manner at al times because someone's always watching!!!!
